Hanse Sail 2025: Rostock's maritime tradition becomes an international hit!

The Hanse Sail in Rostock recently had a great success and was awarded the German Brand Award 2025 excellent. This honor took place as part of the renowned German Brand Convention in Berlin. The event is one of the largest maritime tall ship meetings and attracts visitors from all over the world every year. One could say that the Hanse Sail has developed into an international beacon for maritime culture.

Matthias Fromm, the Rostock tourism director, and Alexander Hopf, managing director of WERK 3, accepted the award. Fromm emphasizes that the award is also thanks to the fruitful collaboration with the agency WERK 3, which has been working for the brand since 1998. The rebranding in 2024 not only introduced a new logo and new colors, but also an optimized website and a fresh communication strategy.

The Hanse Sail 2025 and the city of Rostock

The 34th Hanse Sail will take place from August 7th to 10th, 2025 and will be even more closely integrated into Rostock city center. This is particularly important as construction work is currently being carried out at the city harbor, which will make some areas on the Kempowski bank inaccessible. A concept that the city administration has developed envisages creating areas from the Neuer Markt to the Kröpeliner Tor in order to offer an experience of regionality, sustainability and maritime flair. Again Northern Courier reports, retailers here are involved in a shop window competition in which the most beautiful shop window is chosen by public voting.

The program on the August weekends promises a variety of entertainment: a colorful hustle and bustle is organized on the Neuer Markt, Breite Straße and around the Kröpeliner Tor. Particularly noteworthy is the TOGGO tour from Super RTL, which offers bouncy castles and obstacle course elements for the little ones on August 9th and 10th. In addition, Breite Straße is transformed into a regional market under the motto “Experience Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania”, where regional companies present their special delicacies.

A celebration for the whole family

But that's not all! A new area will be created in front of the Kröpeliner Tor that will focus on sustainability, art, design and entertainment. Participatory stations for upcycling projects are planned here, and an open-air art studio is intended to stimulate creativity. Live music and information events round off the offering and make the Hanse Sail a celebration for the entire family.

Overall, the Hanse Sail not only ensures high added value, but also enjoys strong approval among guests and locals. The 0381 Magazine describes the concept for further development as critical in order to strengthen the maritime character and further position the city of Rostock as a location. Traditional elements should be retained and, in combination with innovative ideas, appeal to new target groups.

The event is enriched not only by numerous program elements, but also by the inclusion of the various districts such as the Alter Markt, Gehlsdorfer Ufer and the Osthafen. The Hanse Sail 2025 will therefore be an experience that will bring the entire city of Rostock into focus.
