New Restaurant Peak on Rügen: Highlights over the Baltic Sea!

On Friday, June 27th, the new restaurant “Peak” in the Rügen Hotel in Sassnitz opens its doors and promises a breathtaking view over the Baltic Sea. On the tenth floor of the hotel, which rises 40 meters above the Baltic Sea, guests can expect “the highest enjoyment on Rügen”, as the restaurant’s motto is. The restaurant has been completely renovated: with a modern kitchen, a new bar and an attractive interior design that hotel owner Hannes von Kroge describes as chic and highlights the unobstructed view, which also includes the old town, the pier and even the entire coast as far as Binz. Nordkurier reports.

Visitors to the restaurant have the opportunity to dine daily from 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. A breakfast buffet is available from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., for which non-hotel guests also pay 24 euros. Coffee, cakes and snacks are served from 1 p.m., followed by an à la carte menu that provides culinary delights from 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. With 110 seats, the restaurant is open not just to hotel guests but to everyone, making it a new destination in the region.

A hotel with history

The Rügen Hotel has a long history that dates back to 1969, when it was opened as the “Mitropa Rügen-Hotel Saßnitz”. In the 1960s, ferry traffic on the Royal Line between Sassnitz and Trelleborg experienced a rapid boom, and the impressive building was built by a Swedish construction company. Today the hotel is owned by the Raulff family and is very popular with holidaymakers. It not only offers an in-house Rügen thermal bath and a restaurant area called “Neptun”, but also a panoramic café with a wonderful view of the sea. The history of the house shows that parts of the GDR charm have been preserved to this day.

The importance of Rügen as a holiday region has developed over the centuries. The island, which was already populated in the Stone Age, offered its residents various changes of control over time, including Rügen being both Swedish and Prussian. From 1952 Rügen became partly a district of Rostock, and after reunification in 1990 the island became part of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Despite its eventful history, Rügen has developed into one of the most popular holiday destinations, especially for guests from East Germany. Pagewizz describes the development and change of the island over the last centuries.

A place for enjoyment and relaxation

With the new restaurant “Peak”, the Rügen Hotel in Sassnitz not only does justice to its history, but also sets new accents in the region’s gastronomic scene. The combination of excellently prepared dishes from classic North German cuisine and a unique view of the Baltic Sea is a recipe that definitely works. Guests are strongly encouraged to make a table reservation to enjoy this new culinary experience.

With the improved security measures in the hotel, including a new staircase and elevator, the Rügen Hotel presents itself as a modern hotel that at the same time retains the character of its long history. Another excellent reason to discover the beauty of the island of Rügen and let yourself be pampered in the “Peak” restaurant.
