Vettel rocks Sassnitz: SailGP premiere promises worldwide excitement!
The anticipation of a sporting highlight in northern Germany is increasing: the first SailGP Germany premiere will take place in Sassnitz on August 16th and 17th, 2025. Among the participants is four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel, who is an important supporter of the *Germany SailGP Team*. This event promises not only exciting competitions but also a great spectacle for the spectators.
State-of-the-art F50 catamarans, which can reach speeds of up to 100 km/h, are available for the event. Preparations are already in full swing - the construction of two large grandstands in a prime location on the 1.45 kilometer long racing course at the outer pier in Sassnitz will begin at the end of July. Ticket demand is also encouraging: over two-thirds of the 5,000 daily tickets have already been sold, and organizers have increased capacity from 10,000 to 11,400 to accommodate the high level of interest. Residents' forum and traffic planning
Shuttle services and park-and-ride parking spaces will be set up to direct traffic. The *Germany SailGP Team*, led by Erik Kosegarten-Heil, will gain its first competition experience in German waters, accompanied by prominent team members such as British Olympic champion Stuart Bithell and strategist Anna Barth. Participants can look forward to exciting races that will be broadcast live on ZDF.

The SailGP races in Sassnitz, which are part of the Rolex SailGP championship series, mark the German team's first home race.
