Technical defect: Fire brigade use triggered by Schwerin IHK!

On Tuesday, a technical defect in the fire alarm system of the Schwerin Chamber of Industry and Commerce led to the use of the fire brigade and the police. At 5.19 p.m. the alarm went into the rescue control center. The emergency services were immediately called to the building complex in Graf-Schack-Allee. But a look on site revealed that the situation was already under control: the building was completely evacuated at the time of the arrival of the police, and the road was cordoned off as a precaution. Ultimately, however, the fire brigade did not have to intervene because no dangers were found when the emergency services arrived. At 5.45 p.m. it was officially confirmed that the alarm had been triggered by a technical defect, which is not unusual in such cases.

A similar incident occurred on 31. January 2025 in Goslar, where two fire alarm systems in a furniture store and a neighboring technology market raised the alarm almost at the same time. A technical defect was also the cause of the excitement here. In this case, too, the emergency services did not need to act because no fire could be found. This shows that technical disorders in fire alarm systems are not uncommon and preventive measures are still of great importance. The reset of the sprinkler system in the furniture store brought some difficulties, which extended the duration of the mission, but security could ultimately be guaranteed here.

Technical defects and fire drives

Technical defects are one of the most common causes of alarming in connection with fire alarm systems. This is underlined by several fire protection incidents in Germany. There have recently been several devastating fire events in fire station caused by technical defects. In October 2024, a new fire station was almost completely destroyed in Stadtallendorf, which resulted in a material loss of over 20 million euros . Here, too, a technical defect, especially on a fire engine, was suspected as the cause of the fire. Many of these incidents could possibly be prevented by using modern fire alarm systems and effective protective measures.

Another example occurred in January 2025 in Treffurt, where a fire was badly damaged five fire engines and the associated tool shed. These incidents illustrate the urgency of preventive measures in the fire brigade area in order to counteract such damage. A missing nationwide statistics concept for fires in fire station makes it almost impossible to get an exact picture of the danger situation. Experts are therefore increasingly calling for training for firefighters and the implementation of modern technologies, such as Mobilfunkrauch detector , for early fire detection.

those responsible agree: it is high time to establish more comprehensive security standards both in maintenance and in the technical equipment of fire engines and the fire brigade houses. Initiatives are required to secure the operational readiness of the weirs regardless of technical disorders and thus to better protect our community in an emergency.
