Romy Hiller: The new voice of the Tagesschau” will delight you from June 14th!
From June 14, 2025, Romy Hiller will strengthen the 8 p.m. team of the “Tagesschau”, replacing Constantin Schreiber, who spoke his last words on the popular news program on May 25, 2023. With her extensive experience in journalism, Hiller brings a breath of fresh air to the traditional format, which attracts an average of 9.6 million viewers, making it the most watched news program on German television. Known for her serious and reliable style, Hiller considers the “Tagesschau” to be the epitome of her evening entertainment
.
Hiller, who was born in Wismar and grew up in Kühlungsborn, has worked for ARD-aktuell since 2018 and was, among other things, a presenter for “tagesschau24” and the morning 9 a.m. edition. She began her journalistic career on radio at Antenne Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania after a traineeship before moving to RTL Nord in 2005. There she gained experience as both an editor and a presenter and became known with formats such as “Stern TV” and “RTL aktuell”.
A new face, a familiar style
Hiller describes her new job at the “Tagesschau” as a great honor. Your colleagues, including Jens Riewa, Susanne Daubner, Julia Sen and Thorsten Schröder, expect excellent collaboration. Marcus Bornheim, the first editor-in-chief of ARD-aktuell, praises your skills, especially in breaking news situations, which is particularly important in today's fast-moving times.
Although she originally wanted to become a foreign correspondent, Hiller found great joy in moderation and quickly established herself in the media landscape. Her previous platforms gave her the opportunity to develop and demonstrate her skills. For the shipments, she uses an emergency note with bullet points to better prepare, which shows how seriously she takes her responsibility.
A look into her private life
Away from the cameras, Hiller is at home in Hamburg, where she lives with her husband and two daughters. Her passion for traveling and getting to know foreign cultures reflects her open mind. This curiosity will not only benefit her in everyday life, but also in her new job, as it encourages her to think outside the box.
With her exciting career and the fresh ideas she brings, Romy Hiller is positioning herself as a promising member of the ARD team. Stay tuned for more information on this exciting development. You can find out more about this at Joyn, daily news and Mirror.
