Complete closure in Kröslin: How students and residents are affected!

From August 25, 2025, the idyllic community of Kröslin will be faced with a comprehensive construction site that will completely close the town's thoroughfares. This will have an impact on students, residents and holidaymakers. As the Baltic Sea newspaper According to reports, the expansion of the local thoroughfare began on August 11th and is expected to take 26 months. The measures are being carried out under the direction of the Neustrelitz Road Construction Authority and include the fundamental conversion and expansion of a 626 meter long stretch. This work is intended, among other things, to ensure greater traffic safety and modern infrastructure.

As part of the expansion, the street will be widened to 7 meters wide and the footpaths to 2 meters wide once it is completed. The main changes also include the construction of new paved sidewalks and protective lanes for cyclists. In addition, important infrastructure components such as drinking water pipes, power and broadband cables will be re-laid and the street drainage including storm water drains will be replaced.

Diversion measures and traffic regulations

The necessary full closure of the town thoroughfare will redirect traffic via district road 22 in the direction of Brünzow and Groß Ernsthof. Gravel bypasses will be set up for the fire brigade and rescue vehicles so that they can react quickly in an emergency. The students at the Kröslin elementary school are also affected: A shuttle service will be set up to transport them safely during the construction period. There is also a protected footpath of 150 meters available for students who have to pass through the construction site. Transport training to and from Wolgast and Lubmin will be increased.

In order to inform residents in a timely manner, regular discussions are planned between the district and the Usedomer Bäderbahn to ensure traffic safety. All information for students and their parents will be made available by the end of August so that everyone is aware and well prepared.

Additional information for residents

Despite the extensive construction work, access to the properties will be guaranteed throughout the entire construction period. Close communication through leaflets and notices should help to keep all affected residents up to date. In order to regulate the removal of garbage cans, a central collection point will be set up so that disposal can take place without any problems.

The construction work is necessary because of the need to renew the road and the ancillary facilities. In addition to improving traffic safety, there was also a great need for dimensioning of the stormwater sewer, which will now also be sufficient for future municipal roads. The lack of a designated route for cyclists in the town center should now finally be remedied.

The small town can only hope that this extensive work will be completed within the announced period of 26 months and that the quality of life in Kröslin will be improved in the long term. The challenges during the construction phase, both for residents and students, are taken seriously by everyone involved.
