Metronome remains on the northern route: contract until 2033 in sight!
There is news from the Metronom Bahn in northern Germany. According to the latest reports from star the company plans to continue its trips on the northern route between Hamburg, Bremen and Hanover. However, this decision depends on the contract for the northern lot of the Hanseatic network, which the Lower Saxony State Transport Company (LNVG) is expected to award at the beginning of July.
The award decision is not yet legally binding. Losing bidders have until July 13th to appeal the decision. The final contract is expected to be awarded on July 14th.
Routes and views
If the award is successful, Metronom will serve the following routes until at least 2033:
- RE3 / RB31: Hannover – Uelzen – Lüneburg – Hamburg
- RE4 / RB41: Hamburg – Buchholz – Bremen
As the District newspaper weekly reported, the southern route from Uelzen via Hanover to Göttingen is expected to be taken over by DB Regio. Metronom regrets the loss of this route, but sees it as necessary that one transport company cannot win both tickets. For the metronome operators, quality is the priority: “We want to concentrate on our home route in order to further improve the service quality and reliability,” explains a company spokesman.
The railway describes this step as a new beginning and would like to thank the passengers, employees and authorities for their trust. A clear focus on its own routes should enable the company to respond even better to the needs of travelers.
Metronome's offer
What exactly does Metronome offer its passengers? A look at the planned routes shows that the trains are not only well frequented, but also serve numerous stops. In addition to the RE3 and RE4 lines already mentioned, Metronom also has other offers that promote mobility in the region:
- RE2 (Aller-Takt/Leinetal-Takt): Uelzen-Hannover-Göttingen mit 9-11 Haltestellen, inklusive Suderburg, Celle und Northeim.
- RE5 (Nordsee-Takt): Hamburg-Cuxhaven, ideal für Wochenendausflüge entlang der Elbe.
These connections are not only convenient for commuters, but also for recreational riders looking to explore the region. Metronom has established itself as a flexible and reliable company.
Overall, it remains to be seen what the concrete impact of the award decision will be. However, until the rail vehicles roll on the northern routes according to the company's plans, the situation will be exciting. Let's stay tuned!
