ATSV Habenhausen in the relegation battle: Coach demands clear performance!
The handball season for ATSV Habenhausen has been anything but optimal so far. Last weekend the Bremen team suffered a significant defeat away against the leaders OHV Aurich. With a final score of 30:39, the ATSV lost the match, despite a respectable first half that ended with 12:16. Coach Matthias Ruckh analyzed that the league is more divided in two this season and that you need a “damn good day” to win against top teams like Aurich. Aurich's strong training routine, which is carried out twice a day at professional level, was noticeable again, especially in front of the home crowd, where over 1,250 spectators recently turned up.
After the game, Ruckh noted that his team got off to a miserable start in the second half and had to contend with six to seven minutes of inaccuracy. The deficit, which remained constant in the 37th minute, was the result of inconsistent performance throughout the game. “We had chances in East Frisia, but we couldn’t stay consistent,” Ruckh regretted.
Next challenges for the ATSV
Now the ATSV has a weekend break before they continue against TuS Spenge on October 26th. The Bremen team will clearly go into the game as underdogs. However, Ruckh has set the goal of regularly collecting points against equivalent opponents in order to increase the gap to the relegation zone. “That is our clear route,” emphasizes the coach.
At the start of the season, ATSV had a hard-fought start against VfL Fredenbeck. This game ended in a 22:22 draw, which left Ruckh disappointed. He criticized his players' lack of defense and 14 missed throws in the first half. Despite a temporary lead of 22:19, the tide turned when ATSV found itself outnumbered and Fredenbeck equalized.
Outlook for the upcoming encounters
The next home game for ATSV is on November 8th against TSV GWD Minden II. Kick-off is at 5 p.m. The team urgently needs points to send positive signals in the fight to stay in the league.
