Fire drama in Aurich: Two cars completely burned under the carport

On Saturday morning, October 18, 2025, a devastating fire broke out in Collmannsgang in Aurich, completely affecting two cars under a carport. The fire brigade received the alarm at 8 a.m. and quickly set off when the fire had already spread to the wooden structure of the carport. A large cloud of smoke was visible in the area and caused a stir.

The Aurich fire department responded with 30 firefighters. Two crews wearing respiratory protection immediately worked to extinguish the flames. Jet pipes were used to keep the fire-breathing monster at bay. Thanks to the fire department's quick response, the fire was prevented from spreading to the entire carport. Nevertheless, the two cars burned almost completely. Motorized two-wheelers that were parked in an attached storage area were also partially damaged. The emergency services even used a thermal imaging camera to check the vehicle bodies to rule out any embers.

Extensive rescue measures

In addition to the fire department, the police, rescue services, the German Red Cross and the Lower Water Authority were also on duty. Due to the extinguishing work, Von-Jhering-Strasse in the direction of Emder Strasse was completely closed for around an hour. This caused traffic disruptions in the area. The overall effort during this operation was impressive, and the attentive citizens were able to observe the intense smoke development from a great distance.

As the police suspect, the fire caused damage in the low six-figure range. The burned-out vehicles were seized by law enforcement officers. No information has yet been given about the exact causes of the fire; the investigation is ongoing. Information about the cause of the fire can be passed on to the police on 04941/606215.

Statistical insights into the fire incident

Such fire events are not only important in Aurich. Germany's fire safety statistics, as reported by feuertrutz.de compiled show the frequency and causes of fires. Unfortunately, there are no comprehensive and uniform fire statistics for Germany, which makes it difficult to analyze and improve fire protection. Regular updates and additions would be desirable in order to be able to better assess the risk situation.

It is hoped that the cause of the fire can be identified quickly in order to avoid similar incidents in the future. The fire brigade showed a good hand here and prevented anything worse from happening. You can only take your hat off to how quickly and professionally the emergency services reacted.

This experience remains a drastic event for the residents. They are now being asked to reconsider their own security arrangements as officers continue their investigations. Together we can help to ensure that such incidents are avoided as much as possible in the future.
