Great fun for 1,800 young people: Large tent camp in Tannenhausen!
A real highlight for young heroes and those who want to become one: the 19th camp of the East Frisian youth fire brigades will take place in Tannenhausen from July 7th to 14th, 2025. More than 1,800 participants, including young people, carers and helpers, are expected, and the whole of East Frisia will make every effort to make this event an unforgettable experience. The Wittmund district is the organizer of this big community week, which not only brings fun but also promotes values such as team spirit and responsibility.
The camp is led by Dirk Janssen, spokesman for the East Frisian youth fire brigade, who ensures a varied and exciting program. This year's camp is all about shared experiences, and the various activities are tailored to the needs of the young people. Support from regional sponsors is also essential, allowing participants to pay a participation fee of just 100 euros per child.
The program: diversity and adventure
A big burning ball tournament, exciting night marches, nighttime activities and also relaxing swimming in the swimming lake are on the program. Together with creative projects in the craft shop, where the young generation of firefighters can make folding chairs from recycled fire hose material, there is something for everyone. Planning these leisure activities is anything but a walk in the park: it requires good skills and a lot of preparation in order to offer new perspectives and nature experiences - entirely in accordance with the requirements of modern pedagogy, as jugendfeuerwehr.de describes.
The infrastructure in Tannenhausen is well prepared: electricity, water and wastewater are provided, not least thanks to the many volunteers who lend a hand. A large tent kitchen will prepare several thousand meals daily, and the milk bar, generously stocked with around 100 liters of milk per day, ensures participants are well looked after.
Safety comes first
But it's not just fun and games that are important. The DRK Aurich local association will take care of all medical emergencies. There is also a well-thought-out waste concept for waste separation: several tons of waste are expected every day. If the worst comes to the worst, there is an evacuation concept that can use the Sparkasse Arena as an emergency shelter.
Of course, parents and relatives who would like to stop by during the camp are also invited - but only after prior arrangement with the relevant youth fire departments. The duty of supervision lies with the carers at all times, who are also aware of the young people's special needs and preferences. This is another important point that bildung.jugendfeuerwehr.de addresses and which underlines the commitment of the supervisors and the requirements for supervision during leisure activities.
This camp is not just a fun factor, but also a valuable educational experience in which the relationship between young people and carers blossoms and the young people can take on responsibility. So we can't wait to see what the coming days will bring - and look forward to exciting reports from the young firefighters!
