Flash message: Mobile controls in Delmenhorst from January 19th to 23rd!
Things will get serious again in Delmenhorst and the Oldenburg district next week: a series of mobile speed checks will take place from Monday, January 19th to Friday, January 23rd. In order to increase traffic safety and avoid accidents, the city of Delmenhorst and the Oldenburg district have initiated this measure, as Weser-Kurier reports.
The checks are carried out at different locations and those responsible have announced them in advance. In Delmenhorst, drivers can expect speed measurements on the following days:
- Montag: Dwostraße
- Dienstag: Feldstraße
- Mittwoch: Brauenkamper Straße
- Donnerstag: Brauereiweg
- Freitag: Bremer Heerstraße
In the Oldenburg district the control points are as follows:
- Montag: Schlutter, Schlutterbrink
- Dienstag: Tweelbäke, Hatter Landstraße
- Mittwoch: Ahlhorn, Oldenburger Straße
- Donnerstag: Bookholzberg, Stenumer Straße
- Freitag: Wardenburg, OD
The aim of the controls
The main motivation behind these speed checks is road safety. You don't just want to punish speeding, but also take a preventative action. According to Bussgeldkatalog, such measures have been an integral part of road safety in Germany since the 1950s. The police usually monitor speed outside built-up areas.
There are over 4,500 stationary speed cameras in Germany, and mobile speed cameras are being used more and more frequently. These have the advantage that they can be used flexibly. They are used on country roads as well as at construction sites and motorways and work with various measuring technologies, including radar and laser devices, as the page of the bus money catalog explains.
Fines and sanctions
Anyone who gets caught during these speed checks will face hefty fines. If you exceed 21 km/h there is a fine of 70 euros and one point in Flensburg. From 41 km/h too fast it even gets really expensive: 160 euros, a month's driving ban and two points in Flensburg are due. Anyone who would like to object to a fine notice has the opportunity to do so within 14 days of receipt.
The upcoming controls are not only important to ensure road safety, but also a sign that those responsible have a good knack for prevention. Whether you're driving in the affected areas over the next week or not, remember to keep an eye on your speed - after all, safety comes first.
