Delmenhorster Kantor inspires in the USA: return with special sounds!
Delmenhorst, Deutschland - Jörg Hitz, cantor of the city church of Delmenhorst, has returned fresh from his journey from the USA. The talented musician was invited to play the harpsichord in Reinhard Keiser's opera "Octavia" at the Boston Early Music Festival (BEMF). The stay in America lasted a total of six weeks, with Hitz spent five weeks in rehearsals and the last week at the festival. He describes the rehearsals as particularly familiar and unlike in Germany, where you often have less time for intensive cooperation. During the festival, which specializes in music from the Middle Ages to the 18th century, Hitz experienced a meeting of internationally renowned artists and aspiring talents. The opera "Octavia", which was in the heart of the festival, deals with the unsconduct of the Roman emperor Nero and his political machinations, which ultimately led to a revolution in the Roman Empire. This complex work, which was premiered in 1705 in Hamburg, addresses not only romantic, but also political unrest. Hitz is the music of the opera at an "incredibly exciting level" and thus underlines the high quality of the festival, which has brought together artists and music lovers every year since 1981. The BEMF is known for its stylized performances with a historical stage design and costumes, which makes the experience even more unique.
