St. Nicholas magic in Delmenhorst: Ailton gives gifts to radiant children!
On December 6, 2025, the little guests were able to experience the magical pre-Christmas season up close in the Spanish restaurant El Toro in Delmenhorst. Over 70 children and young people gathered for St. Nicholas afternoon on the heated terrace in the winter village, which opened its third season just in time. Operations manager Patrick Baier, who invested 40,000 euros in decorating the winter village alone, put together a colorful program with numerous surprises and gifts. DelmeNews reports that the children were treated to free lard cake, children's and apple punch and fresh crepes.
A highlight of the afternoon was the personal visit from Santa Claus, who made the children's faces light up with gifts. Santa Claus received support from Werder legend Ailton, who handed out gifts and signed autographs with great enthusiasm. Music teacher Jens Buntemeyer also led the children in singing Christmas carols together, including the popular “In the Christmas Bakery”. The event was generally described as extremely successful, with happy and grateful faces from the children. The Weser Kurier explains that the gifts were financed through a donation box, which underlines the importance of community during this contemplative time.
Christmas ambience in the winter village
The winter village, which is open until the end of January, offers a great backdrop for numerous events. The terraces are festively decorated with Christmas tree balls, wooden benches and bright figures such as reindeer. Patrick Baier has demonstrated a very good knack for design. In addition, guests in the winter village will find digital food and drink menus that he created himself using a graphics program to save costs. The combination of tradition and modernity attracts numerous visitors, which is also reflected in the figures for last year's mulled wine editions: over 90 barrels were sold, which corresponds to around 2,700 liters of mulled wine.
The opening of the winter village was celebrated with activities such as free mulled wine, which was widely reported on social media. With over 97,000 users reached in the last 30 days, Baier clearly has a feel for how to address its customers. On December 7th, tomorrow, things will continue: From 2 p.m. there will be a children's disco with DJ Toddy on the winter terrace, where entry is free. The Weser Kurier highlights, that a big Christmas party entitled “One Night Before Christmas” is also planned on December 23rd, which will crown the festivities. The winter village is open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and from 3 p.m. on weekends.
The St. Nicholas afternoon at El Toro shows how important community and joy are in the run-up to Christmas. The bright children's eyes and the committed team around Patrick Baier convince once again that Delmenhorst is a lively and warm city that offers its little visitors magical experiences.
