Donation for Deichhorst Elementary School: High-quality school supplies for everyone!
In Delmenhorst, the nerves of the first graders are on edge. Michaela Hoffmann, headmaster of the Deichhorst primary school, highlights the frustrations that arise from inferior school materials. Many parents cannot afford more expensive branded products, which often leads to incomplete materials. Despite the teachers' efforts to avoid moments of frustration, they reach their limits because they cannot give specific product recommendations. The school has reacted to this and noted information on the quality of some products, such as ink boxes and glue, on the materials sheet. But the reality is often different.
In order to provide the students with the best possible equipment, the Deichhorst elementary school has now received support in the form of a donation from the Delmenhorst Community Foundation. For 15 years, this initiative has ensured that primary school students in Delmenhorst receive high-quality material. A total of 1,000 euros were provided to purchase learning writing books, loose-leaf binders, folders, modeling clay, sharpeners, rulers, wax markers, scissors and drawing pads. “The need is high,” explains Jürgen Schulz, chairman of the foundation’s board, “we have received inquiries from all primary schools in the city.” More than just financial support, the community foundation shows how important it is that children can start school with complete school supplies. Weser-Kurier reports about the background to this development and the difficulties that schools are faced with.
Donations of materials and volunteer work
The community foundation also recently organized a similar donation of materials to the Hermann Allmers School. School materials worth 1,000 euros were handed over, which were also tailored to the needs of those starting school. This included notebooks, loose-leaf binders in different colors and creative utensils. The donation was also happily received at the Hermann Allmers School to ensure that the children can start school life without any worries. Information about previous fundraisers can be found here.
Another focus is on finding volunteers. The community foundation is looking for reading and arithmetic sponsors who can support the classes. “The need for volunteers is high,” says Schulz, and encourages those interested to contact the foundation. Overall, the situation in Delmenhorst shows how important the support from the community foundation is. Their initiatives not only ensure that all children have the necessary materials, but also that they receive additional support from volunteers. A good hand in supporting our little ones could be crucial here!
