SV Atlas Delmenhorst II lost to Heidkrug in the district cup quarter-finals

Things got serious for SV Atlas Delmenhorst II in the football district cup on October 2, 2025. The club competed in the quarter-finals against the higher-class TuS Heidkrug and ultimately had to admit defeat 1:3 (1:3). While the Delmenhorst team had to do without two of their own goals from Marvin Kuchenbuch (30th and 39th minute) and the early lead from Tyler Frerichs (13th minute), Dennis Metzing managed to equalize in the 14th minute.

It was particularly exciting in the first half, where the spectators were able to marvel at many goals. Heidkrug was the team that dominated the game for long stretches. However, the game ended without any further goals in the second half, and that was the end of Delmenhorster's path to the cup.

The journey to the quarterfinals

In order to reach the quarterfinals, Atlas Delmenhorst II had to overcome a number of hurdles. They won in the third round against Ahlhorner SV. After a thrilling 2-2 draw in regular time, Atlas prevailed 6-5 on penalties. In this exciting game, Hanno Hartmann equalized shortly before half-time after Andrei-Alexandru Prundeanu from Ahlhorn had previously scored. Dominik Entelmann gave Atlas the lead in the 89th minute, but a last-minute goal from Mathis de Bortol equalized.

In the penalty shootout, Atlas showed strong nerves and converted four out of five shots, while Ahlhorn had two missed shots. This gave Atlas the long-awaited entry into the quarter-finals, like NWZonline reported.

Semi-final without Delmenhorst

With the elimination of Atlas Delmenhorst II, the round of the last four now remains exclusively in the hands of district league teams. Other clubs also had to assert themselves: SV Achternmeer won 4-0 against SF Littel-Charlottendorf, while Delmenhorster TB won 2-0 against VfL Stenum II. By being unbeatable in the current season, the Delmenhorst team are showing impressive performances.

It is also worth reporting that VfL Wildeshausen II triumphed in the penalty shootout against SF Wüsting-Altmoorhausen and qualified with 13:12 (after a 1:1 draw in regular time). Further proof that anything is possible in the district cup!

Regarding the mixed results for the women in the district cup, it can be said that only TSV Ganderkesee II was able to qualify for the round of 16, while other teams, such as SG Littel/Benthullen, were unfortunately eliminated.
