Heat peak at the weekend: thunderstorms announced in East Frisia!
The weather in East Frisia has caused a few surprises in the last few days. How clinsiel.de reports, we can expect the hottest temperatures of the year next Saturday - according to forecasts, over 30 degrees can be expected. While the central and western half of Germany was spared from showers and thunderstorms, strong thunderstorms appeared in eastern East Frisia shortly before midnight, which spread quickly without, however, leading to serious storm-like developments.
Things will be quieter next week; the temperatures settle at a pleasant 20 to 25 degrees. Given the current weather conditions, the sky is slightly cloudy and the humidity is also quite high at 79%.
Pollen levels on the rise
In addition, current weather forecasts show that pollen levels will continue to rise due to warm, precipitation-free weather. In recent weeks the conditions have been rather unfavorable for pollen due to frequent rain and cool air, but now that will change. In particular, there will be an increase in chestnut and lime pollen, which can cause allergic reactions.
Climate change and pollen pollution
What is particularly noteworthy is that an analysis of pollen measurements from 1991 to 2022 showed a thirty-fold increase in birch pollen levels. In warm years such as 2003, 2018 and 2022, grass pollen levels were highest, making the issue of allergies increasingly sensitive.
