Defeat for BW Lohne: Clear weaknesses in the game against Emden!

In the Regionalliga North, TuS Blau-Weiß Lohne suffered another bitter defeat. In the away game against Kickers Emden, coach Uwe Möhrle's team lost 2-0. It was a beautiful afternoon for the 1,850 spectators in Emden, while Lohne is deep in the bottom of the table and has now suffered its fourth competitive defeat in a row. The last time the Lohners were able to collect points was on August 31st, when they celebrated a narrow 1-0 win against St. Pauli II. However, this performance now seems to be a long way off, as they couldn't find a solution to the defensive weaknesses against the Kickers either.

What was particularly annoying was that both goals conceded came from standard situations that resulted from long throws in by David Schiller. Felix Göttlicher was the decisive man for Emden and scored a brace in the 14th and 61st minutes of the game. Outdated defensive strategy schemes required Lohne to make a change, which didn't bear fruit in the first half. With only two shots from Rilind Neziri and Nico Thoben, the offensive game could not have proved dangerous, quite the opposite.

Inadequate offensive performance

After half-time, the team from Lohne came up with numerous actions in the opponent's penalty area, but upon closer inspection these remained unconvincing. Inaccurate passing and a lack of determination characterized the second half, while Emden cleverly won the decisive duels and delivered a strong team performance.

The statistics from the Regionalliga Nord make it clear that the current season is not easy for TuS Lohne. With 306 games on the program and the league as the fourth highest competition in German football, the Lohners are suffering under the pressure. Looking at the rankings, VfB Oldenburg 1897 is at the top with 27 points from 10 games, while Lohne has to respond in order not to sink further into the basement. This situation is alarming, especially if you don't want to sink further into insignificance for the rest of the season.

A look into the future

Even if the next games in the regional league are important, the pressure on the team remains high. TuS Lohne's next encounter is coming up, but the team urgently needs a good hand to get out of this misery. The spectators and fans hope that the club will soon get off to a better start and that the three points can finally be put back on the credit side.

The next matches in the league will certainly offer great opportunities to score points. Here is an overview:

  • SV Meppen 1912 vs 1. FC Phönix Lübeck – 20. September
  • VfB Lübeck vs FSV Schoningen – 20. September

The gap to the competitors will remain challenging, especially after TuS Lohne has no longer been able to appear as a serious challenger for a long time. It will be exciting to see how the team will take their next steps. We'll stay tuned and report on developments in the team.
