A deeply moving experience recently took place at Lake Tankum in the Gifhorn district when a woman from Wolfenbüttel had her last wish come true. The wish was clear: time with her loved ones in her place of power, a place that gave her many beautiful memories. “I often enjoyed my time at Lake Tankum, especially when my daughter Ella was just one year old,” emphasized Saskia, who was accompanied by the volunteer Wish Cart team. The volunteers do everything they can to create special moments for people who often have little time left to live, as News38 reports.

Saskia went on an unforgettable trip with her family and friends. The day was full of emotions and moments of happiness. A picnic basket filled with delicacies and memories of previous days spent together was a must. Maja and Pascal from the wish car team were always at Saskia's side so that the family could superficially enjoy the valuable time and say goodbye to each other lovingly. Before returning to the hospice, everyone had a delicious ice cream - a little sweet end to this special day.

The Wish Car is a cross-generational project that has been supporting people in the last phase of their lives since 2014. Whether it's about visiting favorite places, experiencing a concert or simply spending a day with the family - the goal is always the same: to give people, who often suffer from serious illnesses or are very old, unforgettable moments. Since the first wish car was launched in Essen, the project has spread throughout Germany. It is financed exclusively through donations and relies on the support of volunteers, as the Wünschewagen-Fördervereinigung explains.

Saskia's trip to Lake Tankum embodies what the Wish Car actually means: the creation of happy moments in difficult times. “It was the most beautiful day in a long time,” she sums up her emotional day. The Wish Car team helps make these moments possible for those affected and their families by responding to individual wishes and enabling unforgettable experiences.
