First youth fair in Gifhorn: Looking for creative minds for new ideas!

The first youth fair will take place in Gifhorn on Saturday, October 18, 2025. The event, organized by the Kreisjugendring Gifhorn e.V., has the motto “Strengthening youth – promoting networking” as its motto. From 12:00 p.m. to around 4:30 p.m., visitors, especially young people, can look forward to a colorful program. How regionalheute.de reports, there will be information and participation stands that present the offers of open child and youth work in the district.

A highlight of the trade fair will be the large stage in the city center, where various sponsors will be able to present their projects. In order to provide musical accompaniment to the event, the district youth ring invites young bands, singer-songwriters and other music acts to apply. Those interested can email their contact post@kjr-gf.de or call 05371 / 7593 151. Further information about the youth fair will soon be announced on the district youth ring website.

Support for young people in the region

The importance of this youth fair lies not only in networking, but also in making the diverse offerings for young people in the district visible. According to the Evangelical Youth in the Gifhorn Church District, which is one of the largest youth associations in the region, the focus is on fresh ideas and a lively offering. Their slogan “Heart – Hands – Mind” illustrates how important it is to involve young people in organizing their free time. The association offers a wide range of activities, projects and training courses, such as: kirche-gifhorn.de can be read.

Youth work in Gifhorn also includes special programs for children and young people who are faced with particular challenges. In accordance with the requirements of Section 11 SGB VIII, child and youth work should offer young people support in order to promote their self-determination and social responsibility. The variety of offers should correspond to the interests of young people and enable them to have a say so that they can actively participate in their development, as shown kinder-jugendhilfe.info described.

A look at the challenges

The last few years have also left their mark on child and youth work. After the challenging times caused by the Corona pandemic, many projects have lost the number of participants. In 2019, for example, there were still 156,700 publicly funded offers for 8.6 million young people, whereas in 2021 there were only 106,700 offers available. This corresponds to a decline of 32%, which impressively shows the diversity and availability of leisure activities for the younger generation.

This makes initiatives like the upcoming youth fair in Gifhorn all the more important, which aims to give young people the opportunity to network, have fun and be able to actively participate in their social environment. It remains to be seen how active the participation will be and what creative ideas the young people will bring in.
