Creative and sustainable: Workshop for children in the Göttingen Museum!

On July 6, 2025, an exciting workshop for children will take place in the Göttingen Municipal Museum. Under the motto “Make your own seed balls,” children aged seven and over can get creative from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and learn about environmental protection in a playful way. Participation is free of charge, but the number of places is limited to a maximum of twelve participants, which is why registration is recommended. Anyone interested can contact the museum at 0551/400-2843 or by email at museum@goettingen.de. This workshop is about encouraging children's natural creativity and raising awareness of our environment.

The workshop is part of the ongoing exhibition “Environment, Climate & YOU”, which kicked off on April 6th. Participants can interactively explore the content about environmental issues and sustainable living. The exhibition offers important information for reflecting on the effects of climate change on everyday life. Opening times are Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The museum stays open until 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month. Admission to the exhibition is free, as is participation in the workshop.

Interactive experiences in the museum

The program is aimed not only at individual visitors, but also at school classes who can book their own tours. The children work in small groups on various environmental topics and discuss their findings. This type of interactive discussion not only promotes awareness of sustainability in the areas of economy, ecology and society, but also social learning among students. The special content is based on the original project of the Young Museum Frankfurt, but adapted with new and concrete figures and information for the audience in Göttingen.

The Labyrinth Children's Museum in Berlin shows a similar commitment to environmental protection with its interactive exhibition "Of course today! Participate for tomorrow". Here, children aged three and over can discover fascinating aspects of environmental protection and sustainability in six different exhibition stations. The focus is on topics such as biodiversity, the importance of the oceans and the use of our resources. Here the children are directly confronted with the challenges and opportunities of our coexistence and learn by playing roles and interactive elements.

With actions and events such as the workshop on July 6th and the exhibitions in Göttingen and Berlin, it becomes clear how important it is to educate even the youngest people about the importance of the environment and its preservation. Through playful methods, children are encouraged to recognize their own options for action and become active. A visit is therefore worth it - whether to the Municipal Museum in Göttingen or the Labyrinth Children's Museum in Berlin, because all children are invited to discover their environment and get active.
