Dentistry celebrates 32 graduates: a new beginning in Göttingen!

Aula am Wilhelmsplatz, Göttingen, Deutschland - On June 20, 2025, the time had come: 32 graduates of dentistry celebrated their end in the auditorium at Wilhelmsplatz of the University of Göttingen. At this solemn ceremony, which lasted one and a half hours, Professor Philipp Franz Meyer-Marcotty's examples were presented, who also gave the lecture. Under the title "The Hippocrates' teachings in modern dentistry - more current than ever!" he gave an exciting insight into the challenges and developments of the department. On this occasion 27 of the registered dentists were present, and remarkable respect for graduates was shown.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Dr. Axel Wiesner, Vice President of the Dental Association of Lower Saxony, the word and expressed his recognition for the consistently excellent performance of the graduates. The graduates themselves brought their experiences in impressive speeches: Konstanze Wagner and Philipp Vaid took the opportunity to share their personal experiences and suggestions of their studies.

A very special moment was the honor of Carla Jähn and Luisa Kleemiß, who were rewarded by the jury for their outstanding achievements with a training voucher. Such awards are not only a confirmation of the efforts of the past few years, but also an encouraging incentive for further steps in professional life.

During the celebration, the Geneva vow was also put together by the graduates and the professor. This tradition symbolizes the ethical claim to dentistry and is often viewed as Rite de Passage, in which the new dentists commit themselves to a responsible action in the profession. The event was accompanied by Marc Tröster on the saxophone and Ruben Dorn on the piano, which contributed to the solemn ambience with their performances.

A look at former final celebrations

In the last final ceremony for dentistry in January 2025, which took place in the Alfred Hessel hall, 28 graduates were present. Professor Dr. Annette Wiegand, a student of studies at the Medical Faculty, opened the celebration, while President Henner Bunke from the Dental Association of Lower Saxony promised to encourage the graduates with his greetings. Back then, Professor Meyer-Marcotty gave the same lecture and the best, including Alina Hülsewede and Marco Wucherpfennig. These moments illustrate how continuously the courses in Göttingen produce excellent dentists.
