Fire drama in Goslar: 100 firefighters fight against flames!

On the night of Friday, June 13, 2025, a devastating fire broke out at the recycling center in Goslar. Loud NDR Residents noticed the fire at around 2 a.m., which triggered a major alarm for the fire department. Around 100 firefighters were quickly on site to control the fire and prevent the flames from spreading to neighboring buildings. After the fire department spokesmen declared that the fire was under control, initial assessments of the cause of the fire became known: a stack of bulky waste had caught fire.

Fortunately, according to current information, there were no injuries to report. However, the extinguishing work proved to be challenging as the fire water supply had to be ensured via hose lines from a neighboring industrial area. Employees from the recycling center were also on duty, using wheel loaders to pull apart the garbage in order to better reach the embers. Nevertheless, the material damage amounts to around 250,000 euros.

Extensive firefighting measures and civil protection

The fire occurred on the outdoor premises of a disposal company for electrical scrap in Bad Harzburg Central German newspaper reported. Around 100 tons of scrap ended in flames. The extinguishing work lasted until the early hours of the morning, while the population in the affected areas such as Harlingerode, Oker and Goslar was informed via loudspeaker announcements and asked to keep windows and doors closed. This was done in collaboration with the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance, which sent out a warning.

The cause of the fire remains unknown and investigations are ongoing. In addition, measurements of pollutants in the air were carried out to rule out potential health risks for residents.

Similar incidents and the dangers of recycling centers

The fire in Goslar is not the first incident of this kind. In other cities, such as recently in Oldenburg, there were large fires in recycling centers, where explosive fires and hundreds of burning cars caused a riot Mirror reported.
