Art in the way: Discover treasures in Großenwieden and Welsede!
Großenwieden und Welsede, Hessen, Deutschland - This coming weekend from September 13th to 14th, the seventh edition of the event "Art in the way" will take place in Grossenwieden and Welsede. This special cultural event draws art enthusiasts into the picturesque villages of the Hesse region. Britta Samsen-Huch and Barbara Jahn, the initiators, not only bring art to humans, but also create a unique experience by presenting art in as unusual and inviting places.
The event can look back on a long tradition, because the premiere took place in September 2012 at the Künstlerhof of Nora and Friedrich Heidmeyer. Over 20 exhibition venues - including barns, workshops, gardens and even the church - open their doors to visitors. At 23 stands, artists from Switzerland, the Netherlands and even from distances such as Dresden and Rinteln show their works in various art forms: from painting to ceramics to sculptures and embroidery.
a festival of diversity
A total of 23 artists have announced themselves, including remarkable participants such as Alex Zwalen from Switzerland, Ukn Lee from Korea and Elisabeth Lasche from Bielefeld. Meanwhile, many of the artists travel from far away, partly with the Bulli, to present their work to the general public. The villages of Grossenwieden and Welsede actively support the event by not only providing exhibition rooms, but also offering accommodation for the artists.
The atmosphere of the event should enable those interested in art to search for direct contact with the artists and to exchange ideas with them. This corresponds to the goal of "art in the way" to get to know the villages again and to present art in a different light. They are characterized by encounter and exchange and invite visitors to experience the creativity and the talents that this region has to offer.
A look beyond the borders
While "Art in the way" is coming up in Hesse, another art event also attracts attention: the "open." in Burgenland. This event, which was originally known as the "open studio day", opened the doors of 130 artists throughout Austria on May 7 and June 4, 2023. The aim was to show the diversity of the Burgenland art scene and to address a wider audience. Here, too, visitors were able to visit studios, workshops and work rooms, which were often only accessible on these days.
If you look beyond the borders when looking at the art scene, Berlin must not stay unmentioned. This pulsating city is a hotspot for contemporary art with hundreds of galleries that present different art forms, from visual art to painting to digital NFT works of art. A lively dialogue between established artists: inside and emerging talents shapes the art scene here and attracts those interested in art from all over the world.
The diversity and creativity that can be found in the art scene makes it clear that art can not only bloom in large cities, but also offers an impressive platform for exchange and inspiration in small villages such as Großenwieden and Welsede. You can be curious to see what new talent and creative ideas can be discovered in “Art in the way” this year!
