Hanover in pudding fever: Over 1,000 celebrate with forks and fun!

On Sunday, September 28, 2025, over 1,000 young people in Hanover celebrated a very special culinary trend: eating pudding together with forks. The event, which took place at Küchengartenplatz in the Linden district, attracted numerous participants and was popular on the popular Instagram page Hannover_memes organized, which has around 145,000 followers.

The pudding trend has its origins in Karlsruhe, where a meme page with the name karlsruher.memes popularized the idea with a flyer. This is where the first meeting took place, where people spooned pudding out of large vats — and since then the wave has spread to various cities such as Berlin, Hamburg, Dresden and Munich.

An outlet for youth

One of the organizers describes the pudding meal as an “vent in our time” that offers participants the opportunity to forget the “all the problems” of everyday life for a day and laugh together. This is no coincidence: today's social challenges are particularly affecting Generation Z, who grew up with digital media. According to a study, young people spend around three hours a day on social networks, making the event the ideal platform for social interactions.

Ida, a participant at the meeting, highlights that this way of eating pudding is not only cost-effective, but also provides an excellent opportunity to make new acquaintances. The participants' experiences are shared via social media in the form of videos, which also gives the event a viral character.

Humor and community in focus

The fact that more than 1,000 people came together in Hanover shows how high the demand is for such humorous and connecting events. Feedback from participants shows that the pudding meeting is perceived as a wonderful opportunity for social interaction while the pieces of pudding fly into the air. Nadimi, the operator of the original Karlsruhe meme page, notes that the momentum of the trend was surprising and made many new contacts possible.

At a time when Generation Z is increasingly seeking authenticity and transparency, the pudding trend shows how humorous content and active participation in community activities can lead to a new kind of connection. And perhaps that is exactly the key to a successful event in the post-pandemic world: laughter, food and getting together with like-minded people.

When asked what makes eating pudding so attractive, the answer could be simple: pudding brings people together. And as long as the forks are available, we can look forward to more creative and fun ideas like this.
