Art icon Lippok says goodbye with crazy chairs”!

End of a chapter in Hanover: Inge-Rose Lippok is retiring from her studio at LortzingART after 18 years. In addition to being an artist, she was also known as an enabler, advisor, art teacher and institution. Her decision to have more time for her own art has been welcomed by many who have enjoyed her creative energy in the city. In the coming year she is planning several exhibitions and installations outside of Hanover, which will certainly provide a breath of fresh air in her artistic work.

Especially in recent years, Lippok has turned the studio, which also served as a gallery, concert hall and literary meeting place, into a center for art and culture. It was 100 square meters and was located on the fourth floor. She was often supported by the cultural office of the state capital of Hanover. Numerous artists from different countries found a platform there to exhibit and present their works.

Farewell with colorful chairs

As a farewell, Lippok painted art chairs, which are intended as small works of art to look at, sit on and also to take with you (for a small fee). This action is called “The crazy chairs” and takes place after the performance of the piece “Love Letters”, which is performed by Willi Schlüter and Floriana Sommerauer. A piece that will captivate viewers with its messages about love, life and the art of letter writing.

“Love Letters” will be performed on December 13, 2025 at 4:30 p.m. and admission is free, with a hat donation requested. Reservations are required for the evening and can be made by phone on 0179 9634114 or by email at info@irlippok.de.

Art in the city

Hanover is known for its diverse and lively art scene, which can be found not only in the studios and galleries, but also in public spaces. Works by renowned artists and local talents are integrated into streets, parks and facades across the city. The “Street of Sculptures” on the banks of the Leine in particular attracts many visitors and impressively presents how art contributes to urban quality of life.

With its initiative to make art accessible without admission, the city promotes creative projects that enrich everyday life. Numerous tours take people through Hanover's art landscape, be it on foot, by bike or digitally via an app. This connection between tradition and contemporary art is an important part of Hanover's identity.

In addition, an exhibition will be on view in the LortzingART studio from October 12th to November 2nd, 2025, which will be presented as part of the project “This is how my word fits into your picture”. Here are new poems by Kersten Flenter together with large-format pictures by Inge-Rose Lippok. In addition, an exhibition by the participants in the 2025 studio walk entitled “Heiter bis cloudy” will take place from May 10th to June 22nd, 2025 at Landestrost Castle in Neustadt a. Rbge instead.

While Inge-Rose Lippok is planning her well-deserved break, her influence on Hanover's cultural scene remains. Even after their departure, art remains an important part of life in the city and an expression of cultural diversity.
