The football world is in deep mourning because the Hannover 96 club is overshadowed by tragic events. The goalkeeper Leo Weinkauf (29) canceled the training camp in Saalfelden, Austria and immediately flew back to Germany for important reasons. Two weeks ago, a good friend of Weinkauf died while rafting, and the funeral will take place on Saturday in Münsterland. Weinkauf asked for permission to take part in the memorial service, which was immediately approved by the club management and coach Christian Titz, as Bild reports.
Due to Weinkauf's sudden departure, the planned goalkeeper duel to replace Ron-Robert Zieler (36), who moved to 1. FC Köln, has been canceled. The sporting management is affected, while sports boss Marcus Mann (41) announced the loan of Nahuel Noll (22) from Hoffenheim. Noll and Weinkauf were supposed to compete in training, but now it is Noll and U23 goalkeeper Jonas Schwanke (18) who will take over the two games against Paderborn on Saturday.
Mourning in the club
However, the disaster is not just limited to the goalkeeper position. The club's Christmas party, which was originally planned for Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., was also canceled. The reason for this is the sudden death of an employee from the office.
