In the municipality of Cappeln, more precisely in Nutteln Tegelrieden, there was a large-scale fire in a waste disposal company on Wednesday evening at 7:15 p.m. Around 80 cubic meters of residual waste were on fire and resulted in an impressive effort by the fire brigade, which was skilfully coordinated. The NDR Niedersachsen reports that the Oldenburg control center informed residents to keep doors and windows closed to avoid possible health effects To avoid pollutants.
A real major operation was necessary to bring the flames under control. Stefan Abshof, deputy district fire chief, said that the water supply on site was particularly challenging, which is why special tank fire engines were ordered. The fire brigade was able to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring halls, which calmed the situation. Despite the massive smoke development, there are currently no injuries. The air quality was also checked and the concentrations proved to be harmless.
