HSV secures goalkeeper jewel Dickes: A new source of hope!

Hamburger SV has strengthened itself with the 17-year-old goalkeeping talent Fernando Dickes from RB Leipzig. This step comes after the retirement of Tom Mickel, the club's longest-serving professional. Sports director Stefan Kuntz is enthusiastic about Dickes’ potential and sees him as a valuable addition to the team. This commitment is not only intended to stimulate competition in the goalkeeping team, but also to offer Dickes the opportunity to develop further in the HSV's youth teams. The change will take place in the 2025/26 season, and Dickes will be used in both the professional squad and the youth teams.

Dickes, who was born in Halle an der Saale and moved to Leipzig in 2020, is not only 1.93 meters tall, but has also already gained experience in the professional field. Last season he played 26 U19 games and played four times in the UEFA Youth League. This was confirmed by Leipzig's sports director Marcel Schäfer, who describes Dickes as very talented. Dickes' goals at HSV

With the signing of Dickes, HSV is pursuing several goals. In addition to increasing competition in the goalkeeping team, the young keeper should also gain sufficient match practice in the youth teams. Claus Costa, director of sports at HSV, highlights Dickes' modern goalkeeping game and his physical requirements. “There is great potential in him that we want to promote,” says Kuntz.

“I’m really happy to be able to be at a club as rich in tradition as Hamburger SV and to be able to develop further,” says Dickes, describing his anticipation of the new challenge. The talented goalkeeper turns 18 on October 13th and begins a new phase of his life in one of the oldest football clubs in the world. So far, Dickes has already played 71 competitive games for RB Leipzig's youth team, which underlines his serious ambition to assert himself in the professional game.

HSV is optimistic that Dickes can not only strengthen the goalkeeping team, but also contribute to the long-term stability of the team. Expectations are high and the fans are hoping for many exciting games with the new keeper in goal.
