Two burglaries in Osnabrück: perpetrators steal cash and cigarettes!
In Osnabrück, the police made reinforcements twice this week in the fight against crime. With two burglaries, not only cash and cigarettes were stolen, but the perpetrators could also be caught very quickly thanks to attentive citizens.
During the first incident in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, between June 24th and 25th, the perpetrators in the restaurant on Lengerich Landstrasse, Hellern district, were closed. The restaurant was violently entered, whereby the unknown cash stole and then turned out of the dust in an unknown direction. The local police asks for information from the population and can be reached on 0541/327-3203 or -2215 in order to give possible witnesses the opportunity to share their observations.
Immediately after the restaurant robbery, another break -in occurred to a gas station on Wersener Strasse, on the night of Thursday, more precisely at 3:45 a.m. Here two masked men violently entered the sales room and stole several cigarette boxes. An attentive witness heard the noise while breaking up and immediately informed the police. This witness was able to observe how the perpetrators fled towards Kirchstrasse. The police recorded the persecution and encountered two men, 38 and 44 years old in Atterstrasse, which corresponded to the description of the witness. The arrested stolen goods were found in the form of cigarettes. At the order of the district court, their apartments were searched, where additional evidence could be ensured. The investigation as to whether the men were also involved in further burglaries is currently in full swing.
A look at the current burglary situation in Germany shows that burglars are increasingly targeting residential and business objects. According to the police crime statistics, there were around 77,800 burglary thefts in 2023, which means an increase of 181 percent compared to the previous year. The months of autumn and winter are particularly dangerous, while most burglaries take place between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. during the day. The prevention measures are more important than ever before, since almost every second attempt to break in fails because the perpetrators could not get to the apartments or shops unnoticed. Mechanical fuses as well as modern technologies such as alarm systems and video surveillance are required to deter potential burglars and, in the best case, to secure evidence.
In summary, it remains to be hoped that the rapid arrests in Osnabrück will not only clarify this case, but can also serve as a deterrent example for other potential perpetrators, while the investigation is still underway to clarify whether the two arrested are involved in a larger network. The police will do everything possible to restore the calm in the city.Hasepost reports that the investigation on the two breeders continues to be kept and witness to be asked. The Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung indicates that those arrested have already offered an insight into their criminal career. The increasing burglary in Germany also illustrates the need for emergency experts , the extensive prevention measures recommend to protect residents and shops.
