Salsa summer in the Mühlengarten: Experience Havana live!

Next year, fans of Latin American culture can look forward to a very special highlight: On Friday, July 24, 2026, at 8 p.m., a concert by the renowned salsa band “Havana” will take place in the Mühlengarten. The group, which has been active for 45 years and has already given over 1,200 concerts at home and abroad, will delight with an exciting Latin program.

Under the direction of the talented pianist and composer Kurt Klose, the eleven-member ensemble will present varied musical styles from the Latin genre. Rousing vocals from Rey Valencia and Sabine Wucherpfennig as well as a brilliant interplay of percussion, brass, bass, piano and guitar make the hearts of all salsa fans beat faster. The group's stylistic range includes mambo, rumba, chachacha, bolero, bomba and plena, so there is something for every taste. “Havana” has made a name for itself as one of the most renowned salsa formations in Germany and promises to transform the Mühlengarten into a lively dance floor.

Culinary accompaniment for the evening

What would a great concert be without the appropriate culinary delights? A fresh homemade salsa could prove to be the perfect companion. It's incredibly easy to prepare and offers a crunchy freshness that goes well with both taco salads and breakfast tacos. You need fresh tomatoes, onions, cilantro and jalapeños. The tomatoes provide a lively flavor, while the jalapeños can add the necessary spiciness if desired.

The salsa is pureed in a food processor until it has a juicy and slightly spicy texture. A little tip: After preparation, the salsa should rest in the refrigerator for a few hours or even overnight so that the flavors can develop. So nothing stands in the way of an enjoyable evening!

Music and dance – a perfect combination

What would a salsa party be without the traditional dance form that gives the genre its name? Salsa is a social dance that comes from Latin America and is usually danced in pairs or groups. This exciting dance developed through influences from Afro-Caribbean and European musical traditions and became very popular in New York in the 1970s. Today, salsa is taught in various styles and passionate dancers dance rhythmic movements all over the world.

The anticipation for the “Havana” concert in the Mühlengarten is great. So if you don't want to miss an evening full of energy, music and joy of life, you should definitely note this date in your calendar. For the perfect music experience, participants should also consider the option of getting in the mood with a delicious salsa dip before the event.
