Salzgitter is running: Kilometer Challenge 2025 starts in November!

In November 2025 it will be “Salzgitter is running” again! The popular fitness campaign is entering the next round and motivates the region's citizens to get active and cover distances. From November 1st to 30th, all running enthusiasts and walkers can record and submit the kilometers they have covered. The aim is to get the region moving and set goals.

Last year's winner, 21-year-old Finja Marie Rahlfs from Salzgitter-Bad, set the bar high with an impressive 436.17 km within 30 days. This year too, all participants have the opportunity to count their distances - whether running, walking or sprinting. As in the previous year, the use of the “Adidas Running” app to record routes is very popular. This means that the result remains comprehensible and transparent for everyone.

This is how participation works

Each participant can record their route individually and must send a picture of the result via QR code to “Hallo Salzgitter” by December 1st at 6 p.m. Please remember: Only one image may be submitted per person. The person who covers the most kilometers will be named “Salzgitter's Runner of the Year 2025” and will receive a certificate and medal as well as a special prize.

  • 1. Platz: Titel „Salzgitters Läufer des Jahres 2025“, Urkunde, Medaille und ein Preis.
  • Weitere Preise für die besten drei Plätze: Gutscheine vom FITNESSLAND Salzgitter (1 Monat, 1 Woche, 1 Tag).

The campaign receives support from local partners such as ADVITA, Wohnbau Salzgitter and Autolackiererei Wieczorek, who are committed to active and healthy coexistence in the city. Furthermore, the event shows that the kilometer (SI symbol: km) is not only a unit of measurement, but also a way for the people of Salzgitter to celebrate physical activity. A kilometer is exactly 1,000 meters and is the preferred way to measure distances around the world, although some countries such as the US and UK use other units.

Mobilize the community

Such initiatives are more than just competitions; they strengthen the community and promote the individual spirit of fitness. This is also reflected in the large number of upcoming running events in Germany and beyond that those interested in fitness can register for. Jogging, running and exercise are an excellent way to leave everyday stress behind and get some fresh air. A look at marathon.de reveals numerous events that can be actively used.

The time is ripe – so put on your running shoes and join in! All runners, whether beginners or professionals, are warmly invited to contribute to the kilometer challenge and perhaps even secure a place on the podium. Take the opportunity to exercise and promote your health. Salzgitter needs you!
