Uelzen Community Foundation donates 2,000 euros for popular knot dance courses!
The Uelzen District Youth can look forward to generous support: A donation of 2,000 euros from the “Citizens' Foundation for the Uelzen District” enables free knot dance courses for members. The handover of the check, which took place in the Uelzen district hall, was carried out by district administrator Dr. Heiko Blume directed. Together with the foundation's board members, including Jan Dammann, Uwe Beecken, Hans-Joachim Schikowski and Hans-Jürgen Stöcks, Dr. Blume highlights the importance of this dance project for youth work and sport in the region.
The knot dance courses combine classical figures with the Discofox and are scheduled for three weekends in November in Wieren, Ostedt and Bahnsen. Twelve couples can take part in each course - and the courses are already fully booked. The great demand shows how important such offers are for the young generation.
Cultural activities and social engagement
The Kreislandjugend Uelzen not only offers tango, but also offers a wide range of events. Among other things, the program includes the popular Thanksgiving festival in the Hösseringen museum village, which regularly attracts large crowds. Traditionally, this takes place on October 1st, where the rural youth provide apples, cakes and other delicacies for the visitors. The association is also involved in campaigns such as the “72-hour campaign”, where tasks are presented directly to rural youth by the communities, a sign of the close connection to the community.
Anyone interested in finding out more about the diverse activities of rural youth can find out more on social media or directly from the eight local groups available. It's also worth taking a look at the community foundation's website, which contains exciting information.
A look into the future
The district youth not only has the organization of dance courses on their radar, but is also planning other activities. One of the highlights of the last few years was participation in the Green Week in Berlin - an event that mobilizes young people from near and far. The response there was so great that a new trip with 50 enthusiastic participants is scheduled for 2020.
The series of events follows the positive feedback that continues to be received for the various activities of the district youth, be it pumpkin carving with children during the Sunday shopping season or the information stands at the open farm day in Linden. This shows the ability of rural youth to appeal to younger generations and actively integrate them into the community.
For everyone who lives in Uelzen and wants to get involved in society, the diverse activities of the district youth are an ideal opportunity to network and take an active part in what is happening. Under the motto “Strong together”, a lot is being done for the community here in the region, and the young people are always one step ahead when it comes to creativity and commitment.
