Bird flu: Wilhelmshaven and Friesland spared so far!
In the last few days, worrying reports have reached the coastal regions of Lower Saxony. Many dead or sick birds, especially geese, have been spotted along the coast. Michael Hillmann, chairman of JadeWale Wilhelmshaven, tries to reassure and emphasizes that there are currently no confirmed cases of bird flu in Wilhelmshaven and Friesland. Nevertheless, the situation is serious; Bird flu is spreading in Lower Saxony, and wild birds are also affected, which is a cause for concern.
The large number of birds in the region means that natural deaths and disease become more noticeable. Sick birds often exhibit strange behavior and appear particularly trusting because they are weak. Hillmann therefore strongly advises against touching sick or dead animals in order to prevent the possible spread of avian influenza. People could act as virus carriers and spread the disease to other areas, which is particularly worrying at a time when many people are flocking to the outdoors.
Precautions for Pet Owners
Dog owners are also asked to keep their four-legged friends away from sick animals if possible. In the Wadden Sea National Parks there is a strict leash requirement in order to protect the animals and avoid the spread of the disease.
In addition, a requirement to keep poultry in stables has been introduced in several districts of Lower Saxony since October 24th. South Oldenburg and the Cloppenburg district are also among the affected districts. These measures are intended to help contain the spread of bird flu and protect local animal populations.
The daily word game
Where events in nature and humanity's number and letter scavenger hunts merge, the framework for interesting conclusions is provided. As we continue to monitor bird flu, we look forward to the daily challenges of life, whether in play or in dealing with our environment.
