In order to maintain supplies, the blood donation service relies on continuous donations, as blood products only have a limited shelf life. “There are always donors who are willing to be contacted in the event of a shortage of supplies, especially the universal donors in group 0 negative,” said those responsible at the DRK. Blood groups and their meaning
