On October 1, 2025 there was a significant merger in northern Germany: The STERNPARTNER SE & Co. KG from Hamburg and Walter Burmester GmbH from Elmshorn have joined forces. The result is the creation of one of the largest Mercedes-Benz retail chains in the Federal Republic. Under the new nameStar partner BurmesterIn the future, the joint company will operate at a network of 24 locations between Hamburg, Bremen and Hanover.

With around1,600 employeesThe new trading group is intended not only to strengthen its economic base, but also to respond to changing market conditions. Franco C. Barletta, CEO of Sternpartner, explained the high investment requirements in the coming years in order to further expand the quality and reach of the mobility offering. “We have big plans and are confident that we can offer our customers an outstanding range,” said Barletta.

Extensive presence and services

The highlights of the new unit include not only the Mercedes-Benz locations, but also two MAN service workshops and a Skoda car dealership, which complement the portfolio. The companies inElmshorn,Rellingen,Bad Bramstedtandfrondwill carry the STERNPARTNER BURMESTER brand and thus create a comprehensive offering in the mobility sector.

“Through the merger, we will not only offer our customers access to a broader product range, but also improved service,” emphasizes Barletta. The collaboration between established brands is intended to ensure that customers are offered the best possible solutions, even in times of increased competitive pressure.

The change in corporate management

The merger also brings with it a change in personnel: Helmut Burmester, a mainstay of the company, is retiring after more than 50 years. In the future, Karsten Müller will work in an advisory capacity. The new company will be headed by Franco C. Barletta, Joachim Schlereth and Jörn Sander. The Bäckert family will continue to be represented as shareholders on the supervisory board and will be actively involved in the corporate strategy.
