From festivals to research: Lena Boysen strengthens the IDW team of the FH Kiel!

Kiel, Deutschland - The Kiel University of Applied Sciences can look forward to a new growth in the team of interdisciplinary weeks (IDW). Lena Boysen, who has been working as a parental leave representative since mid -May 2023, brings a breath of fresh air to the organization of the popular events and has had an exciting professional journey.

After her training as an event clerk, Boysen had already gained some experience in the field of event organization. Her path led her to a concert and festival organizer, where she received valuable insights into the world of events. But after graduating in spring 2025, Lena decided to seek new challenges. So she came across the job advertisement of the FH Kiel and was part of the team in the Center for Cultural and Science Communication (ZKW) on May 12, 2023.

a new challenge on campus

The familiarization in the IDW team is closely accompanied by Jana Buschmann and her colleague: Inside, which in their opinion offer excellent support. The large number of names and faces as well as the orientation on the large campus, which she partly reminded of “Hogwarts”, is particularly challenging for Boysen - in particular the building C12 did it.

The impressive location of the university directly on the water and the extensive cultural offer, which includes the Media Dome, the observatory and the computer museum, have also done the new one. In the upcoming interdisciplinary weeks, which will take place from October 27 to November 7, 2025, she will be able to test her learned skills in planning and organization.

The format of interdisciplinary weeks

The interdisciplinary weeks are an integral part of the academic year at the Kiel University of Applied Sciences. After the start of the lecture, you will take place six weeks later, without regular courses. These weeks offer students the opportunity to participate in a variety of workshops, lectures and excursions in various specialist areas. Separate events are offered for teachers and employees.

For the upcoming 32nd edition of the IDW, the data has already been fixed: these take place between April 28 and May 9, 2025. The detailed program will be published on the website of the FH Kiel from March 28, 2025. Registration for the events opens on April 1 and ends on April 20, 2025, whereby registrations are only possible by email after timely. If you want to stay informed about the developments of the IDW, you can follow the official channels on Facebook and Instagram under the names ID2GO and IDA2GO.

The Kiel University of Applied Sciences is well established and with fresh ideas and committed employees such as Lena Boysen in the hindquarters, nothing stands in the way of the upcoming events. It will be interesting to see what the interdisciplinary weeks 2025 have to offer.
