From festivals to research: Lena Boysen strengthens the IDW team at Kiel University of Applied Sciences!
Kiel University of Applied Sciences can look forward to a new addition to the Interdisciplinary Weeks (IDW) team. Lena Boysen, who has been working as a parental leave representative since mid-May 2023, brings a breath of fresh air to the organization of the popular events and has had an exciting professional journey behind her.
After completing her training as an event manager, Boysen had already gained some experience in event organization. Her path led her to a concert and festival organizer, where she gained valuable insights into the world of events. But after graduating in spring 2025, Lena decided to look for new challenges. So she came across the job advertisement at Kiel University of Applied Sciences and became part of the team at the Center for Cultural and Science Communication (ZKW) on May 12, 2023.
A new challenge on campus
The induction into the IDW team is carried out closely by Jana Buschmann and her colleagues, who, in her opinion, offer excellent support. What is particularly challenging for Boysen is the large number of names and faces as well as the orientation on the large campus, which sometimes reminds her of “Hogwarts” - she is particularly fond of the C12 building.
The new student was also impressed by the university's impressive location right on the water and the rich cultural offerings, which include the media dome, the observatory and the computer museum. In the coming interdisciplinary weeks, which will take place from October 27th to November 7th, 2025, she will be able to put the planning and organization skills she has learned to the test.
The format of the interdisciplinary weeks
The interdisciplinary weeks are an integral part of the academic year at Kiel University of Applied Sciences. After the start of lectures, they take place six weeks later, without regular courses. These weeks offer students the opportunity to take part in a variety of workshops, lectures and excursions in various subject areas. Separate events are offered for teachers and employees.
The dates for the upcoming 32nd edition of the IDW have already been fixed: These will take place between April 28th and May 9th, 2025. The detailed program will be published on the Kiel University of Applied Sciences website from March 28, 2025. Registration for the events opens on April 1st and ends on April 20th, 2025, although registrations after the deadline are only possible via email. If you want to stay informed about IDW developments, you can follow the official channels on Facebook and Instagram under the names Id2go and IDA2go.
The Kiel University of Applied Sciences is well positioned and with fresh ideas and committed employees like Lena Boysen at its back, nothing stands in the way of the upcoming events. It will be exciting to see what the Interdisciplinary Weeks 2025 have to offer.
