Delicacies from Lübeck: 3000 coastal boxes for gourmets ready for shipping!
In Lübeck, people with disabilities diligently pack boxes full of regional specialties every day. A group of 26 people work in the Marli GmbH workshops and have set themselves the ambitious goal of filling a total of 3,000 LN coastal boxes. The work is carried out under the watchful eye of group leader Michael Süß, who emphasizes the importance of precision. The aim is to pack at least 50 boxes every day, which represents a very special challenge for those involved and a valuable opportunity to participate in working life.
The variety of tasks within the team is particularly impressive. Yvonne, who only has 10% vision, lovingly sorts vouchers for the boxes. Meanwhile, Andreas takes care of adding Hanseatic salt and tea towels. Silke, on the other hand, has the pleasant task of packaging delicious marzipan, while Michelle adds the freshest beer and sparkling wine and sticks the vouchers into the lids. With a value of 315 euros for a box that sells for just 79 euros, the boxes have the potential to be real bargains.
A symbol of hope
Marli is also an important place of remembrance and mourning. Here the deceased are remembered and it is shown that loss is part of life. The Angel of Hope has stood in the inner courtyard of the Marli building since October 2010, which is an important place to commemorate the deceased of all religions. The angel, cast from concrete and approximately 70 cm high, symbolizes hope, love and compassion. It was the first of its kind in Germany and was handed over to Axel Willenberg by the Swedish initiators Helmut Just and Per-Arne Fijal.
The idea for the Angel of Hope originated in Sweden, where the first angel was erected in 2005. There are now over 40 angels worldwide who convey similar messages. The angel at Marli is therefore part of a larger initiative that combines sadness and hope.
Orders and competition
If you would like to secure one of these special coastal boxes, you can do so via the website www.kuesten-kiste.de, by phone at 0451/144-1444 or in the LN Digital Store in Lübeck. There is currently even a competition for three coastal boxes, so the opportunity to treat yourself or receive a tasty gift is not far away.
Marli impressively shows how integration and community can be lived. The workshops not only offer a valuable product, but also a place of togetherness and support where people of all abilities come together to become active and show: There is still something possible!
