Safe for the 7 Towers Triathlon: Traffic information for Lübeck on Sunday!
In Lübeck, where tradition and sport go hand in hand, there is a very special event coming up tomorrow: the 7 Towers Triathlon. While preparations are in full swing, the city is already feeling the harbingers of this sporting challenge. The event will take place on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the Falkenwiese sports center (Falkenstraße) and promises an exciting experience for both participants and spectators.
But that's not all: Road users should prepare for various disruptions. The closures begin at 8 a.m. and last until 3 p.m. Gustav-Radbruch-Platz will be closed from the Burgtorbrücke confluence, which will require a diversion via Fährstraße. The Travemünder Allee in the direction of the Herrentunnel will also be severely restricted during this period. In order to avoid chaos in traffic, it is advised to avoid the affected streets as far as possible or to switch to public transport instead.
A sporting highlight for the region
The 7 Towers Triathlon has established itself as a fixture in Lübeck's sporting calendar. With over 300 starters this year, there is great interest in this event. Jan-Peter Weiß from SV Breitling even took part despite recently recovering from a cold. At the premiere of the new competition course, he was able to start with a fast swimming time of 500 meters and ultimately secure third place in his age group. Such successes show how exciting and challenging the competition is.
The possible participation in a relay competition over the middle distance, in which the “A3K Rostock” team won with an outstanding 3:56:40 hours, gives the spectators an additional goosebumps feeling. Such competitions are of great importance not only for the athletes, but also for the entire region. At the same time, a solid supporting program is offered around the event, which brings residents and visitors together.
Safety always in focus
Unfortunately, the exuberant atmosphere at the last triathlon was marred by a serious accident on the bike course when a vehicle entered the route without permission and an athlete fell. The sports community wishes the victim a speedy recovery and urgently reminds of the need for safety measures to prevent such incidents. The organizers and authorities are required to reconcile safety and sporting fairness.
The topic of sustainability is also part of the triathlon. With the aim of minimizing environmental impact during major events, organizations such as the German Sport University Cologne rely on environmentally friendly planning. Material flow analyzes are used here to evaluate and reduce the ecological impacts of sporting events. In the context of the 7 Towers Triathlon, it is important that these considerations are also taken into account in order to send a positive signal for the future.
Join us tomorrow and see how the Lübeck community comes together to celebrate sport and community spirit!
