In the course of the second half, the VfR team brought a breath of fresh air into play with a total of nine players, but the turn no longer came. The Neumünster trainer Danny Cornelius summed up that the first half was shaped by individual mistakes, while the second showed the team more present, even if the result was not for it.

Lübeck coach Guerino Capretti expressed a positive statement about the performance of his team and regarded the game as a "good test against a good opponent". For him, this was not only an attractive argument, but also a return to his roots, after all he had played with VfR in the Regionalliga North in 2003.
