Holidays on the Baltic Sea are getting more expensive: beach chairs now cost up to 18 euros!

Summertime is vacation time, and for many people, people are drawn to the coasts of Germany. But anyone planning to travel to the Baltic Sea now should keep a close eye on their budget, because the prices for beach chairs and the tourist tax have risen in recent years. A recent analysis of Moin.de shows that holidays on the Baltic Sea are becoming more and more expensive, especially when it comes to the popular beach chairs.

The highest price screw is currently on the Baltic Sea island of Rügen, where holidaymakers have to shell out up to 18 euros per day for a beach chair in Glowe and Binz. The average price for a beach chair on the Baltic Sea is 14.03 euros, which is higher than that on the North Sea, where it costs an average of 12.17 euros. It goes without saying that price-conscious travelers would now prefer to look for alternatives, because if you go to Pellworm or Westerdeichstrich you can save a lot with just 7 euros per day. But Baltrum and Büsumer Deichhausen also offer an attractive option with prices of 9 euros.

Exorbitant tourist taxes on the North Sea

But it's not just beach chair prices that are an issue. Tourist taxes are also a financial aspect that vacationers should keep an eye on. On average, beach guests on Germany's coasts pay around 3.20 euros per day for the tourist tax, with the North Sea being 21% more expensive than the Baltic Sea at an average of 3.46 euros. One of the highest tourist taxes is on Spiekeroog, where you have to expect a proud 5.50 euros per person. The situation is completely different in Altefähr on Rügen, where the contribution is very low at 1.20 euros per day - a real bargain!

The analysis shows that holidays on the German coast are increasingly slipping into the status of a luxury good. For a family of four, the costs add up quickly: around 50 euros per day for two rented beach chairs and tourist taxes are due if you look at the prices on the Baltic Sea. This is also shown in a comparison Merkur.de, where the prices are clearly coordinated.

Save everyday costs through planning

The good news is that there are potential savings through strategic planning. For example, if you move from Rügen to Pellworm, you can look forward to over 77 euros per week for the beach chair alone. A study analyzed a total of 62 places for beach chair prices and 76 municipalities for tourist taxes during the high season, and the differences are enormous.

For holidaymakers who keep track, this means that a clever change can also save a lot of money on beach chair rental prices and tourist taxes. How Bild.de reports, there are still numerous attractive offers on the North Sea, especially on less frequented beaches, where you can enjoy things cheaper.

So for anyone who wants to spend the summer on the beach, the most important question remains: Where can you find the best deal? Maybe just look off the beaten path and discover the hidden treasures of the German coast!
