Bremerhaven is planning a spectacular high-swing swing at a height of 86 meters!
Bremerhaven can look forward to an exciting attraction that will make the hearts of adventure seekers beat faster. An impressive new “high-swing swing” is being built at the Atlantic Hotel Sail City, which will be installed 86 meters above the Weser dike. The planned opening date is set for spring 2026, and anticipation among residents is already growing. How Weser courier reports, the concept will be based on a similar swing in Berlin that swings over Alexanderplatz. This type of attraction brings the thrill of high-altitude exhilaration straight to the heart of Bremerhaven.
With an expected number of visitors of around 10,000 people a year who will be able to enjoy swinging for five minutes, regional sales director Dennis Micknaß is enthusiastic about the new idea. “There’s something going on!” he says, expressing his excitement about the project. In order to make the whole thing a reality, preparations are already in full swing. The building application for the swing will be submitted shortly and the statics have already been calculated. Implementation contracts are about to be signed.
Worldwide popularity of theme parks
But it's not just Bremerhaven that is relying on new attractions. Leisure and amusement parks are very popular around the world and offer visitors a variety of entertainment options. In one Statista study It turns out that parks with roller coasters, water rides and adventure worlds are very popular. Europa-Park in Rust, for example, attracts the most guests in Germany with around 5.4 million visitors annually. This shows that Bremerhaven could also jump on the trend with its new swing and attract visitors.
Let's go back to the swings: The "high swing swing" at the Atlantic Hotel Sail City is part of a bigger idea. Plans for similar locations in cities such as Frankfurt, Munich and Bielefeld have already been considered. This shows that the idea of such an attraction is not only promoted regionally, but is also considered attractive nationwide.
So the anticipation is great. With its newly planned leisure activities, Bremerhaven has shown itself to have a good hand in the amusement park value chain. The path to implementation has been paved; Easter 2026 will be the time when the first brave swimmers can try out the new attraction.
