Any news for fans of the horror genre? Yes, and how! Capcom has now revealed a brand new game in the popular Resident Evil universe: “Resident Evil Survival Unit”. This exciting spin-off is aimed at mobile devices, both iOS and Android, and will be a real-time strategy game, according to stadt-bremerhaven.de.
The Korean studio Joycity, which is already known for successful strategy titles such as “Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War”, will be involved in the development. The project is supported by Aniplex Inc., a subsidiary of Sony, which is responsible, among other things, for the popular mobile game “Fate/Grand Order”. This collaboration aims to ensure that the new game reflects the authenticity and quality of the Resident Evil universe.
A new concept for old and new players
The special thing about “Survival Unit”: It will stand out from previous titles in the series because it will not offer any shock moments or explorations from the first person or chaser perspective. Instead, the game aims to appeal to both new and old players and reinterpret franchise elements, reports polygon.com.
The announcement came during AnimeExpo 2025, and the developers have promised to offer a fresh perspective on the franchise. The community will also be introduced to further details with a comprehensive presentation on July 10th at 6:00 p.m. ET, according to fullcleared.com.
Further developments in the Resident Evil universe
Resident Evil Survival Unit won't be the only new game in this series. Capcom is also planning to release “Resident Evil Requiem,” the next major entry in the legendary horror series, scheduled for release on February 27, 2026. As such, the upcoming mobile game will undoubtedly be a welcome addition for fans looking to get their money's worth between major releases.
The global release of “Survival Unit” will take place in Japan, South Korea, North America, Europe and Asia, although no exact date has been announced yet. The developers are preparing for the game to make a name for itself in the global gaming community.
