Tigers triumph in the top game: 3-1 against Bremerhaven!

In the top game of the PENNY DEL, the Straubing Tigers showed their class on Sunday evening and won 3-1 against the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven. In doing so, they consolidated their lead in the table in the current 2025/26 season. The game took place in the Pulverturm ice stadium and attracted 5,550 enthusiastic spectators who watched a thrilling duel between the first and second in the league. Straubing Tigers reports that this was the 19th meeting this season and that the Tigers have already recorded 23 wins from 44 meetings in their previous record against Bremerhaven.

The Pinguins took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute through Colt Adam Conrad, but the Straubingers were not discouraged. Shortly before the end of the first period, in the 18th minute, Alex Green equalized on the power play. After an exciting first third, the score was 1:1. However, there were no goals in the second third and the game ended in a draw going into the final 20 minutes.

Exciting final chord

The Tigers proved their strength in the decisive third. Filip Varejcka gave Straubing the lead to 2-1 in the 54th minute. Just before the final whistle, in the 59th minute, he scored a brace and scored into Bremerhaven's empty goal, which sealed the final score of 3-1. PENNY DEL highlights that this goal came on an assist from Tim Fleischer, after Bremerhaven goalkeeper Julius Hudáček was also taken off the ice for this last-ditch attack.

The Straubing Tigers had to make do without some regular players, including Zac Leslie and Mike Connolly, which makes the team's performance all the more remarkable. Henrik Haukeland proved to be a strong support in the Tigers' goal, while the Pinguins had to struggle with the absences of Phillip Bruggisser and Nicholas B. Jensen. The large number of penalties - 37 minutes for the Tigers and 20 minutes for Bremerhaven - always ensures additional explosiveness in such games.
