Discover Bremen: Isa Fischer's art in the old pumping station!
A lot is happening in Bremen! Next Sunday, November 2nd, the special exhibition “Isa Fischer: Bremen in ink and watercolor” will take place in the Old Pump Station. The talented city illustrator Isa Fischer will present her works that provide a unique look at the city. The title of the exhibition, “Seeing Bremen in ink and watercolor,” speaks for itself and suggests that visitors can immerse themselves in the artist’s creative world. This is what the Weser Report reports.
In addition to the exhibition, an accompanying book entitled “Seeing Bremen – a City Portrait” will be available. The event not only takes a look at impressive works, but also offers an opportunity to purchase a Bremen calendar for 2026 as well as signed books, puzzles and postcards. A highlight of the day is the one-hour guided tour at 4 p.m., which offers participants an even deeper insight into the art and history of the city.
The old pumping station
The old pumping station, where the exhibition takes place, has its own history. From 1915 to 1995 it served as a sewage pumping station and was later awarded the Bremen Monument Preservation Prize. Today it is run as a museum and event venue by a volunteer association. The barrier-free accessibility, except for the basement, makes a visit possible for everyone. The address is Salzburger Straße 12 in Findorff, and getting there is very convenient with bus number 26 to the Dithmarscher Freiheit stop. Free parking spaces for bicycles and cars are also available.
While art lovers enjoy the exhibition, interested readers have the opportunity to take a look around the world of books. As of August 12, 2025, ISA (International Society of Automation) print books will be temporarily unavailable due to a switch to Wiley. Instead, e-book formats remain available. These can be purchased directly from the VitalSource website or Amazon. From January 1, 2026, the print and eBook formats of all ISA books will be available on the Wiley website. ISA apologizes for any inconvenience this change may cause.
A bite from Campania
And while we're talking about food, we can't go unmentioned about Pizzeria San Matteo. This first pizzeria from the San Matteo family in New York has made it its mission to highlight the wonderful buffalo mozzarella from Campania and Salerno. Here the tradition of Neapolitan pizza is perfected with high-quality products in a wood-fired oven. San Matteo has become a popular spot for Italian food lovers on the Upper East Side and has received numerous awards, including from the Michelin Guide. It is a place where the delights of Italy are celebrated!
Whether it's art, high-quality books or delicious Italian pizza, Bremen has a lot to offer. Stay curious and visit the events and places that make this city so lively!
