In Seehausen, the Advent season will be particularly festive this year, as preparations for a very special nativity play are in full swing. Rehearsals begin on December 1st under the direction of Pastor Hannah Detken. The weekly meetings take place on Mondays from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Kaemna Hall. All children who would like to play are warmly invited here - whether in a role with or without text, the possibilities are diverse. A highlight will be the dress rehearsal on Tuesday, December 23rd, at 11 a.m. in the church, where the final details will be practiced.

Why are nativity plays actually so special? Life with Jesus summarizes: They are based on the Christmas story from the Gospels Luke 2 and Matthew 1 + 2. The central task of these performances is to make the good news of Jesus Christ come alive – for children and adults alike. Typically, nativity plays are divided into different scenes that can be flexibly designed to meet the children's individual needs and preferences.

Rehearsals and organization

The important aspects that will shape the rehearsals in Seehausen include careful distribution of roles and regular participation. How Life with Jesus emphasizes, at least four rehearsals and the dress rehearsal should be attended in order to receive a role. Discipline and calm during the exercises are necessary. In addition, care must be taken to choose an appropriate costume - modern shoes have no place in the nativity play, biblical-based outfits are in demand.

The props and stage design offer scope for creativity. Even simple materials can be used to create an atmospheric atmosphere. Microphones and good lighting also play a central role so that the children can be easily heard during the performance and the audience can immerse themselves in the story. It is recommended to incorporate the nativity play into a church service. This underlines the festive character and the children take the performance even more seriously.

After the game

After the service, a group photo will be taken of everyone involved and the children can look forward to small gifts that will be given as a thank you for their participation. These shared experiences not only promote team spirit, but also local community - children from different communities can come together and share the Christmas message in a lively form.
