VSK Osterholz-Scharmbeck: Strong test match despite defeat against Hemelingen!
VSK Osterholz-Scharmbeck was defeated 2:5 in the friendly against SV Hemelingen last weekend. For coach Thorsten Westphal, however, it was not a defeat that should make him hang his head. He described the game as the “best test match performance” in this preparation period, even though the team had to play with a total of nine vacationers who did not play. A difficult undertaking that the boys mastered with flying colors.
While the VSK players initially stood well defensively and only allowed two shots from the opponent until the 39th minute, goalkeeper Nikolai Süß was able to confidently parry these attempts. In the first half, the Osterholz-Scharmbeckers also had two good chances to take an early lead. However, Paul Suckow and Dustin Beller missed the opportunities. The first real attack by Hemelinger led to the first goal in the 39th minute: 1-0 for SV Hemelingen.
Score and game history
Tim Bormann equalized just before half-time to make it 1-1 in the 42nd minute, but the joy only lasted for a short time. Hemelingen made it 2-1 in stoppage time in the first half. After the break there was a short-term happy ending for the VSK supporters: Keno Liebschner equalized in the 49th minute, but the desired momentum for the VSK did not last long. Hemelingen subsequently scored three times - first in the 60th, then in the 85th and finally in the 89th minute - and secured the 5-2 victory.
The VSK players Beller, Bormann and Suckow had further chances, but fate was not on their side that day. The team will now concentrate on the training sessions, as the friendly against OSC Bremerhaven planned for Sunday was canceled in order to give the players a well-deserved break.
