Reopening of the Schnoor distillery: new concept, old tradition!
The Schnoor distillery in Bremen will resume operations on Friday, November 14, 2025 after a long break. After the popular restaurant had to close at the end of August after around 50 years, there is great anticipation among the people of Bremen. The new location in the Concordenhaus maintains the proven concept, which focuses on cult beers and fine distillates. The reopening is planned for 6 p.m. and guests can look forward to the indie rock band Von Grambusch, who will provide musical accompaniment for the evening.
Insights into the new location show that things are a little more cramped behind the counter, although the space for guests has been increased. A special highlight is the podium right next to the entrance area, which can be used in the future for various events such as pub quizzes and concerts. Many former guests hope that this new concept can preserve the spirit of the Schnoor distillery.
A long tradition
The Schnoor distillery has made a name for itself over the decades, but the roots of the name “Schnoor” go back much further. The origin is closely linked to the story of Adolf Schnorr, who founded a small workshop in Esslingen in 1908. With fine tool manufacturing, he was quickly able to gain a loyal customer base who appreciated the quality of his products. Even after the First World War and the switch to the production of disc springs, Schnorr remains an unparalleled example of craftsmanship and innovation that is now highly regarded in the field of precision tools and parts.
Interestingly, Schnorr has evolved over the years from tool manufacturing to specializing in “SCHNORR® springs,” which to this day represent one of the best solutions for locking devices. These developments show that good traditions and innovation can go hand in hand as the Schnoor distillery follows its own path and adapts to the changes of the times.
Sporting context
Bremen not only has a tradition in gastronomy, there are also numerous stories in sport. An example is the William & Mary Tribe college team from Virginia, which plays in NCAA Division I. Even though they have never played in the NCAA Tournament, the team shows strong commitment. The Tribe have several exciting rivalries and a long history in various conferences. Such traditions create identity and community, be it in sport or in gastronomy.
If the Schnoor distillery maintains its tradition and remains innovative at the same time, it could soon become a popular meeting place for many Bremen residents and visitors alike. The upcoming opening with the band Von Grambusch will certainly be an integral part of the new history of the Schnoor distillery.
