Esther Henseleit shines at the German Masters in Winsen!
The golf world is looking to Winsen/Luhe, where 26-year-old Esther Henseleit from Varel (Friesland district) made a successful start at the German Masters. The talented professional golfer who usually competes on the international LPGA Tour is rarely seen in Germany. Her last visit was a while ago: the last time she was home was for Christmas.
“It will be great to meet acquaintances and friends again,” says the happy golfer, who now lives in Phoenix, Arizona. Over the last three years she has been able to enjoy excellent training conditions there, which have noticeably improved her game. She has celebrated numerous successes throughout her career, including winning a silver medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
An exciting tournament
The German Masters is part of the Ladies European Tour (LET) and offers total prize money of 300,000 euros, with the winner taking home 45,000 euros. A total of 132 players, including 17 Germans, are taking part in the tournament. Esther Henseleit finished the first round 2 shots under par, but that didn't put her in the top 10. At the top there are four players who lead the tournament with 5 strokes under par, including Ellinor Sudow and Amelia Garvey.
Henseleit has shown impressive performances recently. At her last major tournament in Frisco, Texas, she finished twelfth and received $170,000 (around 145,000 euros). The winner, Minjee Lee from Australia, took home an incredible $1.8 million (around 1.54 million euros), which should be additional motivation for the German player to position herself higher in the rankings.
Achievements and career
Esther Henseleit's career has gained momentum in recent years. Her impressive achievements include placing second in multiple LET tournaments and winning her first LET trophy, which she received at the Magical Kenya Ladies Open in 2019. In doing so, she not only secured the title, but also the LET Order of Merit and was named LET Rookie of the Year. It's notable that Henseleit only turned pro in 2019 and has since played in 100 tournaments, made 64 cuts and achieved 11 top-10 finishes.
The European Ladies Club Trophy and other successes prove that Henseleit is a golfer with great potential. Her path now takes her through the German Masters, and the golf fans in Germany are hoping for an exciting performance from the talented athlete from Lower Saxony.
The entire golf community can be excited to see how Henseleit performs in the coming rounds, as there is still enough time until Sunday to secure one of the top spots and perhaps bring home the title.
The tournament will be broadcast live by NDR so that all fans can follow how the athletes perform in the competition.
