Hamburg's festival summer: Experience culture and enjoyment every weekend!

When the sun shines over Hamburg, the city becomes a scene of cultural diversity and lively events. From June 27th to July 6th, 2025, residents and visitors can look forward to this Altonale Festival With its colorful program it is one of the largest cultural festivals in Northern Germany.

The altonal transforms Altona into a cultural center for 17 days. Here, over 2,000 artists and 180 organizations present more than 200 events, ranging from music and theater to art and film. Concerts, street theater, children's activities and readings are on offer - a true melting pot of creativity!

Highlights of the Altonale Festival

A special highlight is thePop Night, where international and local musicians create a great atmosphere in unusual places. At the end of the festival there is traditionally a large street festival with a flea market. All of this can be found on theSyringe site in Ottensenand the Republic Square in the Altona old town, easily accessible on foot without an HVV ticket.

This takes place parallel to the Altonale Festival STAMP – Street Arts Melting Potwhich will bring international flair with street art, stilt walkers and break dancing from July 4th to 6th. In the evening the atmosphere is rounded off with light parades and DJs. Regardless of the diversity, there is also space for other events in the summer calendar.

Diverse events in Hamburg

Anyone who is in Ottensen on June 28th and 29th can do this Celebration of the Good Lifevisit. A neighborhood salon will be located on Bahrenfelder Straße, where you can enjoy various gastronomic delicacies such as paella and Turkish street food. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.

In the same breath this takes placeTibarg Festival in Niendorf, and thatSpielbudenfestival on St. Pauliinstead of. While the latter attracts with fire shows and diverse street food, visitors can immerse themselves in a cheerful pedestrian zone with music and international traditional dances at the Bergedorf Old Town Festival on July 18th to 20th.

This is the highlight of the monthPride Week / CSD HamburgFestival from July 26th to August 3rd, which delights with a large parade through the streets on August 2nd. It will be a weekly celebration of diversity and equality, while also...Vegan street festival on St. Paulion July 26th, with around 50 stands offering plant-based delicacies and information about animal welfare.

From cultural events to culinary experiences and musical highlights – Hamburg has a lot to offer this year too. The celebrations and festivals are not only an opportunity to celebrate, but also to support the wonderful neighborhood and local businesses.
