Free warm meals for everyone: DRK food truck in Osdorf!

The German Red Cross (DRK) food truck has celebrated its comeback in Osdorfer Born and is once again providing warm meals that are available without proof of need. This initiative, which launched in May of this year, brings fresh, vegetarian food to the district. The next missions are planned for July 26th and September 27th, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., directly at the DRK center at Bornheide 99, like that Mopo reported.

The need is high, especially in a district where many people, including many children, struggle with financial constraints. The motto “While stocks last” illustrates the spontaneity and urgency of the offer – the DRK helpers are always ready to provide support. After the visit to Osdorf, the truck continues to its regular location in front of the DRK-Kilo shop on Neue Große Bergstrasse, where it is available for guests on Saturdays from 4 p.m.

A comprehensive offer

In total, the food truck distributes up to 200 portions per day and, in addition to meals, also offers coffee, tea, fruit and occasionally dessert or chocolate. This emerges from information from the DRK, which points out that many volunteers ensure that everything runs smoothly and a friendly atmosphere. The team organizes the purchasing and preparation of the food in a commercial kitchen and is also available to help guests. This initiative is aimed not only at people without a permanent address, but also at everyone who needs support in the region.

Growing need

The increasing poverty in Germany and the difficulties of being able to afford adequate housing or heating costs make a project like this all the more necessary. Loud application.com You can get help from various social projects and aid organizations that take care of people with low incomes. There are also opportunities to apply for food vouchers, particularly for those on Citizens' Allowance, which is another important part of supporting those in need.

The DRK website offers information on how to get in touch and further support options. If you have any questions, you can contact the responsible authorities by email at obdachlosenhilfe@drk-altona-mitte.de or by telephone at (040) 890-8110. Monetary donations are also welcome and can be transferred to the Hamburger Sparkasse account.

The food truck's actions send a strong signal of solidarity in Hamburg and create space for community and support. At a time when challenges are growing for many people, these warm meals not only provide nourishment, but also hope and a listening ear.
